Room In The Inn - Now Madison Home

Coordinator: Janie Jordan

Our church has been involved with Madison County’s Room in the Inn program since its beginning. RITI is now transitioning to MadisonHome, a comprehensive program for the homeless and needy. Please “like” their new Facebook page and follow the plans for opening a shelter in Richmond. Great things are happening here and God is at work!

Room In The Inn (RITI) was initiated in 2019 in Richmond and supplied housing for the homeless during the coldest months, December 2019-March 2020. Several of our church members volunteered during this time and developed friendships with our “guests”.

During the summer and fall, with the coronavirus pandemic, our parish has been feeding homeless and hungry people every week. Many churches and volunteers have participated so that lunches could be served seven days a week.

During this winter of 2020-21, ECOS is assisting RITI and other churches by providing hotel rooms for those who need a place for the night.

Mother Carol has secured a $4,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation Rapid Response grant award in conjunction with the Public Theology and Racial Justice Collaborative of the Vanderbvilt Divinity School to support our efforts.

Thank you to all those who have been involved in any way. Let’s love all of our neighbors!
