Room In The Inn (RITI) now Madison Home was initiated in 2019 in Richmond and supplied housing for the homeless during the coldest months,
The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Madison County, Kentucky continues to help and assist with the homeless population. Our parish was involved with Room In The Inn/Madison Home during the winter months to help house the displaced during the cold weather. Our church volunteers helped with registration and welcoming the “guests”, also assisting with coats, socks, and other needs………especially hot chocolate and coffee.
We recently had a “undie Sunday” where underwear was collected for those with no home. We have continued to provide meals for the hungry throughout the year in conjunction with other volunteers, churches and local mosque. Many of our parish members are involved in the buying, preparing and delivery of meals. We have used grant money and donations from others which has been a great blessing.
Our garden produce has been vital to our local food banks and also provides fresh vegetables to those with no home. We certainly know how to feed people! Our parish is still involved with Home Meals Delivery and this is vital in feeding those who are elderly, disabled or home bound. There are so many parish members involved in our outreach programs. Too numerous to list without forgetting someone. Many of our outreach activities have been postponed due to the pandemic. We have tried to limit these to stay safe and healthy. God always provides new ways to minister to others.
We are always looking for volunteers - please email me at janejjordan@bellsouth.net if you are interested in helping.
God is good and faithful Janie Jordan
